The Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) is a key federal government financial assistance scheme for aspiring and current exporters. The scheme is administered by Austrade, in support support of a wide range of industry sectors and products, including inbound tourism operators (ITO) and the export of intellectual property and know-how outside Australia.

The scheme:

encourages eligible applicants to develop export markets by providing up to eight grants.
reimburses up to 50 per cent of expenses incurred on eligible export promotion activities, above a $10,000 threshold. First time applicants can combine eligible expenses over two years to qualify for the threshold.

Applications for 2008-09 closed 30 November, 2009. Applications for 2009-10 will open 1 July, 2010.
